Comium was a national mobile operator in deep financial trouble. Monty Mobile stepped in, settled outstanding debts and fees, and stabilised the business. More than 150 jobs were preserved. By early 2022, Monty Mobile had assumed full operational management.

It was - and remains - the only full mobile network operator within Monty Holding.

Comium is Mountasser Hachem's most visible statement of intent - proof that a Beirut-founded group can operate a mobile network in the most demanding frontier markets, and do it better than those who abandoned it.

Comium is a fully-fledged mobile network operator - voice, data, roaming and value-added services on owned spectrum.

Comium was the opposite of a trophy acquisition. It was a business in pain in a region the rest of the industry had walked away from.

We bought it because we believed the engineering, the spectrum and the subscribers deserved a second chance - and because we believed we were the right operator to give it to them.
